Great Bay beach
When in Philipsburg, you are never far from
the sand, as the Great Bay Beach runs the length of the city, and because of
its proximity, it is full of amenities. Beach bars abound, as is walking distance
to rum huts and street carts serving cold beer. The trail just finished ads to
the cosmopolitan flair of this Dutch Caribbean city. It's the perfect place for
people watching tourists and locals hike, bike, or zip line on Segway tours,
gift shops, restaurants, and bronze sun-seekers in lounge chairs. The stretch
of sparkling white sand is one of the longest and widest beaches on the island
and one of the most popular thanks to easy access from the city and cruise ship
docks. So book your tickets now from Spirit
Airlines official website.
Philipsburg Courthouse
The Philipsburg Center is a courthouse on
Watney Square in the heart of the Front Street shopping district. The historic
wooden building is bright white with a bell tower with a clock and a small
tower with a pineapple on top, symbolizing the reception. It was originally
built in 1793 as the home of the city's founder, Commander John Phillips, and
has served as a prison, post office, and fire station ever since. Currently,
the building functions as a courthouse. However, if you want to learn more
about the city's history, you can take a five-minute walk east on Front Street
to visit the Museum of St. Maarten.
Cole bay Hill
Head to Cole Bay for awe-inspiring views and
take panoramic photos of the capital and the beaches of St. Maarten. You can
hike up the hill to the Harold Jack observation deck, a beautiful view
overlooking Simpson Bay, Philipsburg, and the Great Bay, and even the nearby
Saba Islands. St. Cole Bay Hill is a great place to take early morning photos
of the sun shining along Simpson Bay Lagoon, the largest inland waters in the
Caribbean, and a great place to enjoy a Caribbean sunset. The best way to get
here is by Spirit airlines
reservations.
Maho beach
Maho Beach is not one of the calmest beaches
in the world, but it undoubtedly has a unique claim to fame, especially if
you're a fan of aviation. Maho Beach is next to the airport, and planes fly so
low over the beach that you feel like you are landing on them.
Children in particular love to see planes
flying overhead for a day at Maho Beach, but even adults are quickly drawn to
the magic of seeing such a large plane so close. If you climb over the
beachfront fence closest to the airport, you can even feel the jet explode as
the plane takes off - and chances are some sand particles are swirling around
you. Apart from being an airplane, Maho Beach is a fun place for swimming and
snorkeling. So book your Spirit airlines
ticket now from Spirit airlines flight booking.
Maho and Mullet bay
Find the main airport of St. Petersburg Martin on the map and find Maho Beach. How close, do you ask? If you've ever seen a picture of sunbathing staring at tourists as the 747 approached the runway just six feet above their head, it's most likely taken here. So, by all means, come and take your photos, but you may find that the roar of the engine and the smell of jet fuel keep you from staying too long. Luckily, Mullet Bay Beach is a short and quieter walk away. It's the tropical paradise you've always dreamed of: white sand, swaying palm trees, clear water. Here the waves can get high, which makes it a magnet for surfers on the island. Mullet Bay is also home to the island's only 18-hole golf course.
